Friday, November 16, is a big day in Lancaster County! It’s the annual Extraordinary Give (#extragive) sponsored by the Lancaster County Community Foundation. The foundation puts up a financial pie of $500,000, and 500 community organizations get a piece of the pie proportionate to the funds they raise in this one day through the Extraordinary Give!
Whatever your interests, you can find an organization (or several!) to support, from child care to elder care, homeless outreach to disability support services, libraries to the arts. You could help fund colleges or crafters, poverty reduction or empowerment.
In the previously six years, in just a single 24-hour period each year, more than $31 million has been raised for charitable organizations! Can’t wait to see where this year’s total comes in.
Even if you don’t live in Lancaster County you can still donate to an international Christian microfinance organization—Hope International—because it is headquartered in Lancaster County! And of course, you can certainly make a donation to charities in your locale at any time—that’s still extraordinary!
The Extraordinary Give starts at midnight (like late Thursday night) and runs for 24 hours only. Les and I have chosen our charities. What will you support? It’s your call.
You choose. You give. And everybody wins.
